I recently had a client who needed to keep their SMS 2003 environment up and running while they migrated to Windows 7 using SCCM 2012. When we tried to deploy Windows 7 to machines that were within the SMS boundary group, the PXE boot would fail with the following error: OSD Task Sequence error - XXXXX cannot be located on a distribution point. Day 2 at MMS, and the Keynote address made 2 things very clear: Microsoft is looking to the cloud as the future of delivering services to users; and Microsoft Windows Server “8” (still in beta) is the vehicle to drive IT to that destination.
