Here are some of the technology stories that caught our eye today:

Charles Babcock writes about what he sees as IT departments having difficulties in building private clouds. IT organizations are trying to balance operating private clouds that can work with public clouds, while still working with their in-house systems and applications.

NetApp Connect is NetApp’s new offering that offers mobile access to data stored on NetApp systems, without a complex authentication process, but still maintaining data security while the data is still on-premise. The app is available now on iOS, and will be released for other mobile platforms “soon.”

RSA, The Security Division of EMC, released a new brief urging IT organizations to modernize their thinking on Identity and Access Management. Ensuring the right users get access to appropriate company resources is especially important as access methods, like cloud services and endpoint devices, grow in number and are outside IT’s direct control.
