Cisco released security patches for its email, web, and content security appliances. Vulnerabilities in the systems could allow attackers to run commands in the OS or disrupt critical processes.

With the recent revelation of the National Security Agency’s surveillance programs, encryption apps are becoming more popular. Lorenzo Franceschi-Bicchierai of Mashable looks at Silent Circle, launched by former employees of PGP.

Ken Hess believes web sites need to adopt multi-factor authentication. He proposes web sites use one of the more common multi-authentication methods, like a random number generator, and deny account access after three bad login attempts.
