Here are some of the technology stories that caught our eye today:

According to reports from the Washington Post and the Guardian, the National Security Agency has backdoor access to some of the largest technology and social media companies on the Internet, including Facebook, Apple, Google, and others.

Microsoft and the FBI took part in a joint operation with partners in the financial services and technology industries to disrupt the large Citadel botnet, responsible for more than half a billion dollars in financial fraud.

Veaam announced that Veeam Backup & Replication 6.5 was named Best of TechEd 2013 in the Backup and Recovery category. This is the eighth industry award for Veeam in 2013.

The most popular antivirus products for Android devices are easily circumvented by basic code switching techniques, according to research from Northwestern University and the University of North Carolina.
