Here are some of the technology stories that caught our eye today:

Citrix Worx App Gallery is now generally available and has more than 100 third-party apps since it was previewed in May. App security and provisioning is controlled through XenMobile, and apps run in encrypted containers on mobile devices.

Dell Foglight for Virtualization Enterprise 7.0 now supports VMware vSphere and vCloud Director. The software also now cleans up unused VMs that still lurk in a virtual desktop environment. Dell will be showing off the updates at VMworld next week.

The McAfee Threats Report: Second Quarter 2013 report found Android-based malware grew by 35%, the highest increase since early 2012. The report attributes this to banking malware, fraudulent dating apps, and legitimate apps infected with malware.

Microsoft is offering free support calls for users affected by last week’s Automatic Update patch MS13-063/KB 2859537 for the Windows Kernel, which has caused system crashes and other errors for some users.

Lakeside Software’s SysTrack 6.1 can now collect and analyze data from Citrix XenClient, improving end-user performance and enhancing virtual desktop deployments.
