Here are some of the technology stories that caught our eye today:

Microsoft’s latest security update fixes 19 critical vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer, and flaws in Microsoft Office, the Windows Kernel, and Print Spooler.

Martin Casado, chief architect of networking at VMware, was honored by the Association for Computer Machinery as a winner of the 2012 Grace Murray Hopper Award.

Google, Facebook, Twitter, and Microsoft have called on the federal government to allow them to publish more detail about the number of secret requests for user data the government makes under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

At Interop Tokyo yesterday, Juniper Networks announced new network automation and orchestration tools with Junos Space Network Director and Puppet Enterprise for Junos OS.

Apple’s new Mac Pro was announced at WWDC Monday, and Jason Perlow wonders if this high-powered machine comes too late in a world with mobile and cloud computing, and “extreme SaaS” innovations like Nvidia’s GRID.
