Email-based discovery in the Citrix Workspace app allows users to setup Workspace using only their email address. The benefit of this feature is that a user does not have to enter or remember any server URLs to access their Citrix resources. All they need to do is enter their email address and the Workspace App will auto-configure itself.
To configure this feature in traditional NetScaler Gateway and StoreFront deployments, an administrator would need to configure the following for each email domain:
- A DNS SRV record
- A certificate on the NetScaler Gateway and Storefront
- A session profile on the NetScaler Gateway
However, because Citrix manages these components in Citrix Cloud, administrators do not have access to perform these tasks. For this reason, Citrix developed the Global App Configuration service (GACS) in Citrix Service. GACS is a cloud-based solution that allows administrators to configure and manage end-user settings in the Citrix Workspace app.
To configure email-based discovery in Citrix Cloud, an administrator will need to log into the management portal using their Citrix Cloud Administrator credentials:

Then all you have to do is add the information for the email domain(s) and Citrix Cloud store URL(s). There is no need for an administrator to create DNS records, certificates, or session profiles. GACS takes care of this for you.
